I'm Back... With a Rewind

Well, I returned from Brazil last week (sorry for not posting this earlier, but I was occupied). I have a huge list of news for you:

Spider-Man 4 Scrapped:
http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/01/11/columbia-scraps-plans-for-%E2%80%9Cspider-man-4%E2%80%9D-in-2011-will-reboot-franchise-in-2012-without-tobey-maguire-and-director-sam-raimi/
That sucks. =( But at least we have something to look forward too =) ...

Intimidators Complete:

December 21, 2009 - Intimidator at Carowinds is complete.

December 26, 2009 - Station roof starting to go up, gift shop looks complete, and maintenance shed roof up for Carowinds.

January 4, 2010 - After being in a crappy situation, the webcam for I305 is back, and Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion is almost done.

January 6, 2010 - Both sets of big cranes for both coasters are gone.

January 9, 2010 - Intimidator 305 is complete with the first bunny hill.

BGA Hyper?!:

From Screamscape:

"2011/2012 - The Next Coaster - Rumor - (1/11/10) Sources tell us that Busch Gardens Tampa has tentative plans in place right now to close down the Skyride in June for up to 7 months. Apparently, if all goes well, this will be to make way for a large project for 2011. So… why close the Skyride? Apparently one of the ideas on table is to reuse the old Monorail side of the shared building to possibly serve as a station for the new attraction.
(1/7/10) Giving a little more credit to the rumor that BGT may be getting ready to build their next new coaster comes a reader report from IAAPA. While this doesn’t mean anything for sure, our source tells us that they happened upon the B&M booth just as some kind of meeting was ending between B&M and a bunch of Busch Entertainment execs.
(12/22/09) While nothing is 100% firm just yet, it seems Busch Gardens Tampa may be trying to pull a very big rabbit out of their hat for the 2011 season. Stay tuned!
(11/9/09) I’ve been sent a report claiming that last week BGT had floated up some balloons over the park for a height check of a proposed new attraction. Could the park be ready to finally deliver the long awaited B&M Hypercoaster project in 2011 or 2012?"

Now, I thought these plans were scrapped, but BGT may be in the talks for their long-rumored B&M Hypercoaster project (it's about time Florida gets one of these). Now today, the latest rumor (seen above) claims that the Skyride will close June for 7 months to reuse the old monorail section as the station. At first, I found that illogical... but it could work. They just have to keep the lift hill away from the Skyride itself, and... well, that's that.

P.S.: The Rockit banner survived the Friday 12/18 storm and they are starting to run it in cold conditions!

Banner Complete!

Courtesy of Mookie at Orlando United:

The big banner is complete as of yesterday. If you look at it, you can see that not much as changed, except that they added the "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" symbol under the Fast Forward sign.

The new banner looks better than the old one IMO. The old one looked good too, but the new one's Rockit sign sure looks WICKED!

Hopefully it won't be ripped again...

Rockit closed and... New Banner?

Got some bad news and some good news...

BAD NEWS:

December 10, 2009 (Missourian quote):

"Rockit was closed today with a crane by it. Signs at entrance of the park beneath the turnstiles said "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is currently closed for preventive maintenance." What the heck..."

Dang! Hopefully it will be open on my birthday!

GOOD NEWS:

I said that if they installed the new banner, I'd be satisfied. Daytonaguy responded:

"So do your "Happy Dance". A new banner was installed on Friday!"

WOOT! It's about time it come back. =D Hopefully air holes will be installed to prevent it from ripping again! XD

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Perspective from Friend

My classmate rode Rockit in September and he said it is his favorite ride in USF. Last Thanksgiving, he rode it again, but there were technical difficulties with the ride, so he decided to go (he still deems it his favorite ride). It was a 2 and a half long wait and then the ride broke down. Yeah, it happens to some rides that just opened (namely first-of-its-kind types). During their first few weeks, for example, Spider-Man and Revenge of the Mummy had a plethora of technical difficulties as well. Still... I have been hearing stuff such as:

1. The moving walkway has not been working since the ride opened.
2. There have been recent breakdowns with the ride involving music, LEDs, etc.
3. Rough trains have been reported on the coaster as seen in this video posted by dshaytes:

4. Express is not open yet (and might not until next year).
5. I don't know what happened to the CityWalk entrance, but I don't think it is open yet.
6. It valleyed two times after it opened.
7. It did not open during HHN.

Hopefully, they will solve 1-6 (which will automatically solve 7) soon. In the meantime, the coaster is still open (and got its final train last month).

Stay tuned!

As of now, the only thing left of the Big Bad Wolf roller coaster at BGW is the drop to the Rhine River. Wonder how it will look like when it is all gone...

Big Bad Wolf Update #1

http://www.amusementpics.com/BGWNewsNotes.htm

The top pics show that not much is left of the former Big Bad Wolf roller coaster. The first lift, block brake before second lift, and signature drop are still there (as well as some scattered track). Other than that, the final brake run, the first turns, everything, have been removed.

Yeah, I still remember some pics showing the beginning of the 2009 season celebrating BBW's 25th anniversary. Then in the summer, those nasty rumors came and said that it will be removed. On July 24, 2009, the removal was confirmed. Even Screamscape was upset. On September 7, 2009, Big Bad Wolf was no more. Now, it is almost gone.

Wow, this is a sad time.

RIP Big Bad Wolf 1984-2009

=,(

I will scream in anger when they remove Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast.
